Lemma / Privacy

Privacy policy

Plain language. No account, no tracking, and a clear account of what is stored where.

1. This website

This site is static. It has no analytics, no cookies, no advertising, no embedded third-party scripts and no forms. Fonts are served from this site. Our host may keep ordinary server logs, as any web host does.

2. The plugin has no account and no server

Lemma runs inside Obsidian. There is no Lemma account, and Fundaments.work does not operate a server that the plugin talks to. We do not receive your notes, your cards or your review history.

3. Where your data lives

  • Your cards are text in your own Markdown notes.
  • Your review history (the memory state of each card and a log of each review) is kept in a local database inside Obsidian, on the device you review on.
  • Plugin settings are saved by Obsidian in the plugin's settings file inside your vault.

4. Optional CouchDB sync

If you turn on sync, Lemma sends your review history to the CouchDB or Cloudant server whose address you enter, and nowhere else. That server is yours, or your provider's, and its privacy terms apply to it. Sync is off by default.

The server address, database name, username and password you enter are stored in the plugin's settings file in your vault as plain text. Do not share that file, and use a dedicated database user.

5. Links

Links to GitHub, Obsidian and the documentation take you to sites we do not control. Their policies apply once you leave this one.
